Game Dog Guardian Available Dogs
Name: Susie Shortcake
Sex: Female
Age: 1-2 years
Weight: 40 lbs.
Needs: Forever Home
SPONSORED by Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc.!
Shortcake is one of the Montgomery County cruelty survivors. She is the most gentle dog we've ever met. Shortcake, or Shorty, as she is often called, loves playing with other dogs and while we don't have many requirements for forever homes, we do require that this little girl go to a home with other dogs so she can continue her road to recovery. S
hortcake is learning the human-canine bond, and when someone walks in to the play pack, she is the first one to run over and give their hands soft little Shortcake kisses. She is still a little shy, but is learning to come out of her shell at Pit Bull E.D.U. classes. She has an amazing volunteer handler and is learning her name, how to make eye contact to ask for something, and is working on sitting. Shortcake was heartworm positive, but thanks to the help of Pinups for Pitbulls, she got the treatment she needed and has no residual affects from the heartworms. She is a happy little girl, looking for a brother or sister who will romp around and snuggle with her. See adorable Shortcake in our "Cruelty Survivors in Play Packs" video.

Susie loves to play at daycare and is often used to help other dogs get used to the pack or learn how to play well. She's even helped Doodlebug (above) learn how to ride in a car and walk on a leash! We're so proud of little Shortcake and all she's done in the short time we've had her, to help other dogs.
Name: Graham
Sex: Male
Age: 3-4 years
Weight: 70 lbs.
Needs: Foster Home & Forever Home
SPONSORED by the Martin Family!
Teddy Graham is a ladies man! (as you can see from the photo). His volunteer handler at Pit Bull E.D.U. says when he hears a woman's voice his tail just starts a'waggin. He loves to help with laundry - and not in a good way. He'll need a strong leader and plenty of consistency to thrive. Our Graham cracker would prefer a home with a low to moderate energy level and one with some previous dog experience. He hasn't met any cats yet, but Graham could live peacefully with
another dog if he can't be an only child. Graham loves to just go with the flow and relax (and lay his big head in your lap to snooze). He's not a high energy dog, so he would do well in an apartment or with low to moderate exercise (though some of our volunteers say he would prefer no exercise at all!) Teddy Graham comes with a lifetime of free training by GDG trainers and with 10 weeks of Pit Bull E.D.U. training already under his belt! (Graham is featured here with Pinups for Pitbulls Founder, Little Darling!)
Name: Bumble
Sex: Female
Age: 3 years
Weight: 20 lbs.
Needs: Forever Home
SPONSORED by the Phillips Family!
Bumble is brand new to our program and she is as cute as they come! The size of a Boston Terrier (and missing her tail too!), she's built like a solid Staffordshire Bull Terrier. This little Bumble Bee is a little shy, but is learning how to take
treats, walk on tile floors, and make eye contact to communicate. She LOVES going to daycare and playing with the other dogs, likes cats, and snuggling with her foster sisters. Bumble also enjoys trotting up and giving you a quick kiss on the hand and then trotting away - just a little something to say "I love you."
Name: Turkleton
Sex: Male
Age: 2 years
Weight: 55 lbs.
Needs: Forever Home
Turkleton, aka our chocolate bear from the t.v. show "Scrubs," is quite the ladies man. If you're a guy looking for a girl, look no further - Turk is your wingman. If you're a lady looking for a dog to make you laugh, keep the house clean, and snuggle with - Turk is your dog.
Turkleton is a bit dog selective, so any introduction would need to go slow. He ha
s been just fine with other females young and old and just doesn't like the pushy males. He is fantastic on walks, is great at home whether you wan to crate him or leave him out in the house, and he otherwise just likes to eat, sleep, and cuddle. He knows a variety of commands (as you can see from his perfect picture posing) and loves to watch t.v. on your lap. He would do well in nearly any household with a moderate energy level.
The dogs in our rescue program largely come from animal cruelty cases in the Midwest and nationwide. We believe that as the dogs overcome their less fortunate past, they can motivate and help people overcome obstacles through the power of the human-canine bond.
