What kind of a job do...do you even have a job?
Yep, I have one of those little life annoyances called a job. I've been a police officer for 16 years and I'm currently a patrol sergeant and a member of the Major Incident Response Team.

Working in law enforcement, how often do you encounter really bad dogs living with really good people?
Actually, I usually encounter really good dogs living with really bad people.
How does it feel to know you, a Sergeant in your police force, are no more than a common criminal in cities like Denver, CO, Miami, FL, or Overland Park, KS?
It would be like making cars illegal so you don't have DUI offenders; it makes no sense. Make the punishment to the actual criminal activities they're worried about, stricter. They worry about drug dealers, gangsters, dog fighting or owners who act irresponsible. Make the punishment for those activities stricter!
Since the media portrays, and many city officials perpetuate, the myth that only drug dealers and gangsters own pit bulls, do you find it ironic that you're in law enforcement?
While I don't find it ironic, but most of the "gangsters" I deal with while working do, if they learn I own a pit bull. I think many of them assume that as a cop, I fell for the typical media brainwash with regard to pit bulls.
How much time do you spend on training the viciousness out of your dog?
If by "training the viciousness out", you mean trying to get her lazy butt out of the bed, then tons!
How many times has your dog eaten through doors and shredded metal to get out of your house and terrorize the neighborhood? (as alleged by the City of Sylvan Lake and Sterling Heights MI city council minutes)
Ate through doors & shredded metal huh? Someone's been reading too much Stephen King. The only thing she does is charm her way onto the couch.
Do you leave your dog chained in your backyard or lock her in your basement?
Absolutely not. She's not an item we use or show off because it's cool or a status symbol. The reason we have our dogs is to be a part of the family, and we love spending time with them.
Have you learned anything from having a pit bull type dog?
I've grown up always having dogs around, many of them great dogs. It wasn't until I adopted Lexi that I realized what a great personality they could have. No other dog has ever been so personable or in tune with what's going on around her.
What is your favorite activity to do with your dog?
A friend of mine & I were working in the garage, both of our dogs hanging out with us. Things weren't going as planned with what I was working on at the time, and while holding back a few choice words, Lexi walks over, leans against my leg & I start petting her. My friend looks over & says, "Everything's better when your dog's with ya', isn't it?"
