PENELOPE

This little lady was a doll to have in our program.  She started out as a lazy hound-dog-acting puppy, and left a smart bouncy pit bull who loves life!  Penelope found a home with a great family who has time to take the very best care of her.  Penelope is an amazing listener and loves her big brother!  And they even look alike - that must have sealed the deal.  We're so happy to see Penelope with her new family!

AJ

Sweet AJ was found wandering the streets, bald and scared.  We quickly learned AJ was burned on his back and down his legs, hence the baldness.  He didn’t let that slow him down though!  After over a year of boarding, AJ finally found a foster home with one of the boarding employees.  She took amazing care of AJ, lathering him with sunscreen in the summer and clothing him in a heavy sweater in the winter.  He quickly bonded with his two canine sisters and his foster mom finally decided she just couldn’t let him go.  After nearly two years in our program, AJ is finally in his forever home.  Thank you to the volunteers at Chain of Hope KC who found AJ and brought him into our program.

Beetle Bailey

Tiny little Bailey came to GDG after a cruelty bust in Oklahoma in the dead of winter in 2008.  After everyone gave up hope on this little guy and his frustrating anxiety, GDG took him in to our program and put him with one of our most patient and well-trained volunteers.  He worked through most of his problems and gained a ton of confidence along the way.  Nearly a year after joining our program, Bailey was adopted by a wonderful (and super patient) family.  While Bailey still gets into mischief in his forever home, it’s a far cry from the life he had at the end of a chain.  GDG thanks Pinups for Pitbulls for sponsoring this ornery little boy.

Daisy

This little Staffordshire Bull Terrier is one of the best little dogs we’ve had.  Once used as a breeding machine at the end of a 10-pound tow chain with nothing more than a cardboard box for shelter, today she’s living the life in a quiet suburb with an amazing family.  Daisy was full of worms when we got her and her daughter Otter.  The two girls were the sweetest little staffies GDG had ever met.  Daisy didn’t last long in her foster home before she was swooped up by her forever family.  She’s now a spoiled little princess with two human sisters.  (She’s already vacationed in Florida!)  Thanks to Mid-America Bully Breed Rescue and Spay Neuter Kansas City for helping these little ladies out.

Otter

Otter and Daisy were found together and it is assumed that Otter is Daisy’s daughter.  After only a few weeks in her foster home, Otter was claimed by one of GDG’s dog trainers.  She’s been to New York, swam in the Hudson River, herded cattle, and is now on her way to help her parents rehabilitate dogs at a new training facility in Wisconsin.

Gus

Gus has found his forever home after a short time in the shelter, his foster home said he played so well with their other dog, that they couldn't stand to split them up.  And this time, his family is committed to him for the rest of his life.  Gus is growing up, but is still flopping around in his big boy suit.  Welcome home Gus!

Doc Hopper

Goofy Doc was found in a city with breed specific legislation and sentenced to death.  When a local rescue group saw him, we couldn’t help but agree to take him in.  Doc was quickly fostered with one of our most seasoned foster homes.  After his first few months, his foster family decided they couldn’t let him go to anyone else.  They kept Doc as a “foster failure” and he lives happily ever after with his brother…annoying him with his puppy play every step of the way.  Thank you to Mid America Bully Breed Rescue for sponsoring Doc.

Pun

Big Pun was found in an abandoned house with his brother.  Pun came to GDG and went into boarding and was eventually worked into a foster home.  Pun was one of GDG’s first dogs and holds a special place in our heart.  This big ol’ lug was with us for over two years, not for lack of applications, but more for the search for the perfect home.  Finally in early 2009, Pun found his forever home with a great couple who own a mechanics shop.  Pun spends his days relaxing in the lobby, greeting customers (receiving treats, such as leftover roasts, from the regulars), and helping his dad.  Pun couldn’t be happier and we couldn’t be happier for him and his new family.  Thank you to Mid America Bully Breed Rescue for sponsoring Pun.

Sterling

“The boys” came to us in the summer of 2009.  Marked for death at a shelter in a local town, simply because of their breed, GDG was able to save these handsome and well-behaved boys.  Along with their huge muscular bodies, the boys had huge hearts and perfect personalities.  We didn’t have foster homes for these amazing boys, but they were content to spend their days in playgroups at a local doggie daycare and sleep the night away nestled close together in a run.  Sterling had the outgoing and energetic personality and was matched up perfectly in his new forever home.  Living in our nation’s capital, with two feline brothers and sisters, Sterling is the neighborhood hunk and goes for runs with his family every night (and has already vacationed all over the country).  Thanks to Mid America Bully Breed Rescue for sponsoring the brothers.

Wally West

This big love was going to be killed, not because he was vicious, but because he looked like a “pit bull.”

He and his brother (or maybe ‘son’) Sterling, were nothing but angels to have around.  Wally was a slow moving guy who reminded us of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh.  He loved sunbathing with the littlest dogs at daycare and it didn’t take long for Wally to find his forever home.  Adopted to a family with two other bully breeds, Wally has made his way into the hearts of everyone he meets.  He goes to work with his mom and takes weekly trips to the pet store with his family.  We’re so thankful that we were able to save Wally from his certain death and that he now lives an amazing life with a fabulous family as a perfect breed representative.

Martin

Martin was only 6 weeks old when he came into our program, so it didn't take long for him to find his forever home.  Coming from a multi-state dog fighting bust, Martin made it out and now lives happily ever after with his new family.  Martin spends his days at doggie daycare, romping around with his friends and when he's at home, he loves making the living room his own obstacle course.  He's quite the inspector and is curiously submissive.  Martin is an amazing boy and we're so happy he's found his forever home. He certainly deserves it.

Laffy Taffy

Taffy came from the largest dog fighting bust in U.S. History.  When she first came to GDG, this little girl was afraid of the world.  She crawled everywhere on her belly and had no idea how to act around dogs.  After a few months Taffy was doing gymnastics and playing with other dogs in her foster home.  And after a few more months, a few Pit Bull E.D.U. sessions and several play dates, Taffy had a ton of new friends, both human and canine!  GDG is happy to report that she is living in her new forever home where she can run, flip, tumble - and even hike and explore!  We're so proud of our little strawberry Taffy.  You've come a long way baby!
